Is this the same problem which I get in Firefox and Netscape??
This happens when I click on the newsletter to go into the pctip website

Give us an example... Which link does not work??

EDIT: If we've found the problem, maybe these English posts will be translated to German, because the forumlanguage is German, but now you can write in English if you can't German...

Hi Sonny

Now that's strange :o. When we published our new web site, we probably got a new IP address. Back then, we had some other newsletter subscribers reporting the same problem, but after one or two days the problem was gone for most of them. The reason seemed to be the domain name servers (DNS) of their internet providers who didn't update their entries. After they did, everything was fine.

I'd like you to check several things, if you don't mind ;)

To check if it's an error on our web site or in our newsletter:
Does this problem occur on every link you click in our newsletter? Or only some of them? If it's just some of them, could you please give us an example?

To check if it's an error in your webbrowser:
If you use Internet Explorer instead of Firefox or Netscape, does this problem occur, too?
If you copy and paste the URL from our newsletter to your browser (please try Firefox and IE), does this problem occur, too?

To check if it's an error in your e-mail client:
Which e-mail client are you using?

To compare your internet settings with other users:
What's your ISP (internet service provider)?

To make sure that your system doesn't use wrong or outdated domain name information:
Is your hosts file clean? (on Windows XP it is located in C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\ the file is called "hosts", without any file extension. You can open the file with Notepad editor)
If you have a look at your TCP/IP configuration, is there any DNS entry? And if so, what is it?
Or is there a proxy server entry? And is your system clean (no viruses, browser hijackers or so)?

I admit, these are many questions, but I'd like to have that solved :)

Kind regards
Gabriela

This seems to be a problem with the Mozzilla based websites as with Opera I can go straight into your website from your articles in the newsletter...

My email client is yahoo and gmail

My internet provider is www.ggaweb.ch

The host file shows
"# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host"

Is that what you meant?

I scan my pc with webroot and Nod32

When I use IE it opens your site but then crashes so I find it not much use

hope this helps to solve the problem

regards sonny

You said the problem occures only with Mozilla browsers? So, you've got Firefox? Please try the following:

- open Firefox
- choose the menu "Tools" (on the top of the window)
- select the item: Clear Private Data
- in this list select all the things you want to clear! important is, that you clear the cache... This website might be saved there and because of this the error came...
You can get into this window where you can clear data also with the following keybord combination: ctrl + shift + del

After having done it, see if it works now...

edit: some things concerning your answer above:
- email: you don't use Outlook, Thunderbird or something like this? You open mails just in your browser (Firefox, Opera, ...)?
- crashing IE - this is strange... is there an alert before? When does it happen? when you opend www.pctipp.ch ? only if you're clicking a link in the newsletter?
